Time-series of Attenuation on Ehf and Shf Fixed Radio Links Derivedfrom Meteorological Forecast and Radar Data
نویسنده
چکیده
A method for deriving attenuation time-series on fixed satellite or terrestrial links is described. The method uses meteorological forecast and radar data and permits time coincident derivations for multiple sites that include the inherent spatial correlation properties. The paper describes the approach adopted in the technique and presents preliminary results for two sites in the UK. The time-series and spectra generated by the simulator show promising similarity with those measured on an Earth-space link for the same period. The technique has application in performance simulation for satellite to earth links and has longer-term significance in terms of real-time operational use.

In this paper, the link quality in SHF and EHF ranges are studied. In order to achieve high data rate higher frequencies must be used – centimeter waves (SHF), millimeter waves (EHF) or optical range. However, there are significant problem when a radio link work in that diapason – rain attenuation and attenuation in earth’s atmosphere. Based on statistical rain rates data for Bulgaria, the link...

The constant demand for increased capacity of communication channels has led the SATCOM industry to develop new satellite systems operating at frequencies above 20 GHz where large bandwidths are available (EHF band – Extremely High Frequencies). متن کاملAnalysis of Bistatic Scattering Due to Hydrometeors on SHF and EHF Links in a Subtropical Location: A Comparative Study Based on the Rain Cell Models
The inevitable increase in radio interference within microwave systems continue to be of major concern as more of radio communication services compete with bandwidth assigned to the fixed service, fixed satellite service and broadcasting satellite service. Interference hampers coverage and capacity of these services often lead to the reduction in the signal to noise ratio at the receiving termi...
متن کاملEstimation of convective precipitation: the meteorological radar versus an automatic rain gauge network
The estimation of convective precipitation and its contribution to total precipitation is an important issue both in hydrometeorology and radio links. The greatest part of this kind of precipitation is related with high intensity values that can produce floods and/or damage and disturb radio propagation. This contribution proposes two approaches for the estimation of convective precipitation, u...
